The Metchosin Riding Ring was funded largely by the Metchosin Lions Club. Planning commenced in 1987 and construction was complete in time for the Grand Opening at the Metchosin Day Celebration in 1991. The Ring and Grandstand were constructed using countless donations of financial assistance, labour, equipment, materials and expertise from many people in the community. It was used for many years by Metchosin Pony Club for lessons and clinics and is maintained by members of Metchosin Equestrian Society. The ring was resurfaced in the fall of 2014 with improved footing to provide all-weather usage and then was amended with additional sand in the spring of 2019 to improve the footing.
Metchosin Pony Club was one of the main contributors to the construction and upkeep of the original ring. For over more than 25 years Metchosin Pony Club held many pony rides, clinics, lessons, Prince Philip Games, Jumping and Dressage shows and summer camps. In 2017 Metchosin Pony Club merged with the Greater Victoria Pony Club.
Please Note: Today MES members are still using the equipment that originated with Metchosin Pony Club so many years ago.!
