2019 MES President's Message

Wow, this year went by so fast! I will try to recap the year!

The year didn't get off to a great start with nasty weather in January. Because of that, our annual Stirrup Cup Ride was cancelled! Hopefully, we can get that in this January to start 2020 off right!

The year has been steady with several new coaches using the ring as well as the Stellar Steppers and a few private lessons.  We had a few successful shows with the Sooke Saddle Club as well.  We had several loads of footing delivered to the ring in the spring/summer with much success! This did take a good chunk out of our contingency fund!

Metchosin days turned out to be a great success with great weather and a fantastic turnout.  We planned the concession food just right and were able to run out at the end of the day with not much waste. The horses and riders put on a fantastic show for the public and everything went very smooth! I am hoping to get a little more volunteer help in 2020!

Danielle Preston hosted a clinic with Kenneth Vansweevelt on The Academic Art of Riding with several participants and it was well received.  Everyone that signed up really enjoyed their time with Kenneth and the information they learned with their horses.

Overall a great year! I am hoping to get more involvement from Members in the coming year and plan more events with hopefully more participation from Members!

Your President,  Justine
