On Sunday, January 5th many members braved the weather and the wind to participate in the MES Annual Stirrup Cup Ride. The rain was torrential right up until the start of the ride but the weather broke and the sun came out as the rider's left the ring. It was a great day with two hosted stops.
The first stop was at Ravenhill Farm and was hosted by Sandy Jenkins where the participants were treated to a few nibblies and a warm drink...and Pedro the Alpaca made a number of new friends!! Bev Bacon made a heartfelt toast to Sonja Young for all her contributions to MES and our local riding trails.
The second stop was hosted by Ellen Dewar. The timing was amazing!! As the riders arrived at Ellen's house the skies opened up and it hailed!! Luckily it only lasted a short time and the riders were treated to a very welcome bonfire and a nice warm drink. Everyone enjoyed lively conversation and camaraderie and all were warm and dry for their trip home.
